It has been a difficult year both on and off the soccer pitch and unfortunately, we have more difficult news to deliver you.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions imposed in Australia and Fiji, the 2020 Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup will not be taking place this year.
Competition director Bruce Tilt admitted it was a difficult decision to make, however, given the circumstances, it was the only option.
"We looked at every possible avenue to get the tournament going but ultimately the health and safety of everyone involved has to come first," Tilt said.
"The highlight of my year is our week in Fiji so it brings me great sadness knowing I won't get to see hundreds of smiling faces playing the world game in Fiji this year.
"I want to say vinaka to everyone for their understanding, including the Fiji Football Association as well as the prospective Australian and New Zealand teams."
With this bad news, comes good news, with the 2021 Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup already pencilled in for December 4-12 with more details to come.
"We are delighted to have dates in place for next year," Tilt explained.
"Given we will miss this year, we are aiming to make the 11th edition of the Ultimate Fiji Soccer Cup the biggest and brightest yet.
"The Fiji FA is very excited to be now planning for the 2021 tournament and I hope everyone reading this will be too."
